I must certainly have a cocktail before I eat in order to open up my appetite and after I eat, no more drinking, unless is water. lol.  I’ve never really been a fan of dark spirits (pun intended), I am more of a vodka-kinda-girl, however, my boo enjoys the brown things in life, so as I was preparing lunch, which is usually the best time to sip, I decide to create a concoction from whisky to see if he would  like.  Thus was born the Mango Whiskyrita on the rocks. Bam, it wasn’t his thing, he said, but I loved it!

Origins of the Margarita drink

The were at least 6 differents version about the origin of the drink.  This is the one I thought was mostly likely to be the true one:

Invented in October 1941, at Hussong’s Cantina in Ensenada, Mexico, by bartender Don Carlos Orozco. One afternoon, Margarita Henkel, the daughter of the then German ambassador visited the cantina and Don Carlos who had been experimenting with drinks offered her one. The cocktail consisted of equal parts of tequila, Mexican orange liqueur called Controy (A.K.A. Naranja in the United States), and lime, shaken and served over ice in a salt-rimmed glass. As she was the first to try the drink, Don Carlos decided to name it after her and the “Margarita” was born.” 1

  • 1/4 cup whisky (any brand)
  • 2 tbsp mango margarita mix
  • 2 tbsp apple juice
  • ice


Pour all ingredients over a cup with ice and stir.
